Annual Open Enrollment ends on Wednesday, December 7th (12/7/2022). You have until midnight to make changes . . . but don’t call me then . . . I will be sleeping. Between now and then I hope to finish comparisons and PDP advice for clients that are still deciding on which plan is right for them.

Here are a few tips for procrastinators and those who feel there is no need to review and change drug plans every year.

There are MANY changes to prescription drug plans for 2023 including a wake up call for anyone with an ELIXIR plan. Once a “darling” of the PDP market, Elixir seems to be preparing to exit the drug plan market. 

There are only 2 Elixir plans for 2023 . . . one priced at $33.60, the other is $52.80. If you have an Elixir plan now you should check to see how much the plan is changing for 2023. Find another plan and self-enroll before 12/7/2022. 

I will help as many clients as I can before Open Enrollment ends but my time is very limited.

Medications are becoming more expensive each year, including generics. Don’t make the assumption that your lowest cost for meds, including generics, are available by using your drug plan.

Many times you will pay LESS for your generic drugs by paying cash and using a discount card like GoodRx. Many pharmacy’s have their own list of generics that have lower prices than GoodRx, so be sure to ask for the LOWEST price when filling/refilling your medications.

Many of you know I have drug plan comparison software that is more accurate and current than Medicare dot gov. 

I pay a monthly fee to access this information and run reports that are often more accurate and have more detail than the dot gov site. This is a FREE service for my Medigap clients and I am always glad to run comparisons for you. The next few weeks are very busy and my time is limited, but I will do the best I can to help you find ways to save money on your prescription drugs.
